Introduction

Greeting

Hello,
I am Yun Gongyong, the Chairman of the Cheonan Corvette Memorial Foundation and a retired Rear Admiral of the Republic of Korea Navy.

The 5th term of the Foundation's executive team officially launched on December 1, 2022. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the people of Korea who continue to remember and support the noble sacrifice of the 46 heroes of the Cheonan(PCC772). I also extend my deepest respect and appreciation to the previous executives who have dedicated themselves to the development of the Foundation over the past six years.

The Cheonan Corvette Memorial Foundation is a non-profit public interest organization established with the donations of the people. The Foundation's mission is to honor the 46 brave heroes who were martyred when the Cheonan was struck by a torpedo from a North Korean submarine during a patrol operation in the West Sea. We also provide comfort to the bereaved families who continue to live with the pain of losing their loved ones, especially the fathers and mothers who lost their children, and assist the comrades who survived this tragic incident.

In addition, we are committed to widely promoting the truth about the Cheonan attack, fostering national security awareness, and upholding, passing on, and developing the spirit of patriotism and defense to prevent such tragedies from happening again.

We will continue to operate the Foundation in accordance with its original purpose and mission. Together with the families of the heroes and the surviving service members, we will make every effort to correct the distorted narratives surrounding the Cheonan sinking and share the truth with the public. We will also strengthen our ties and cooperation with relevant authorities, including the government and the Navy.

We pray for the eternal rest of the 46 heroes and kindly ask for your continued attention and support.
